One of my favourite bangers is a Cumberland sausage. I was introduced to what I considered the best I had tasted when the in-laws moved to the Lake District and started to frequent Higginsons Butchers in Grange-Over-Sands. In following years when visiting them I'd make sure we'd pop into "Higgis" to stock up with a couple of Cumberland coils (and some of their other tasty meats) for the home freezer.
Since the in-laws passed away, visits to the Lakes have dropped right off, although we did divert to visit the church where the mother-in-law was interred last year on the way south from Scotland. A quick visit to "Higgis" was included.
I have now found that Aldi have started stocking Cumberland sausages, so purchased a pack to try. I must say these are really good! Up there with what I remember the ones from "Higgis" tasted like. Going to have to stock up on these to save me the 500 mile round trip to Grange!!!
